He was a lifelong resident of the DeRidder area. He was a member of The Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse. He worked at Fort Polk for 27 years. He served in the Army in World War II.
Survivors include one son, Bruce Berry of Bryan, Texas; two daughters, Elizabeth Burks of DeRidder and Debbie Prince of Dayton, Texas; one sister, Willie Nell Sprouse of Chillicothe, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, in Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse Church in DeRidder. The Rev. Wayne Pounders will officiate. Burial will be in Beauregard Cemetery under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder. Visitation is 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-noon Sunday in the funeral home and from 1 p.m. Sunday in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beauregard Council on Aging, P.O. Box 534, DeRidder, LA.
