Jewell O. Horst, 92, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton.
She was born May 27, 1917, in Yardelle, Ark., to Hance and Kathryn Wheeler Hill. She graduated from high school in 1934 in Blackwell, Okla.

On June 11, 1938, she married Paul Horst in Salina. He died March 14, 2002. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Earl, Ernest and Hance Hill Jr.; and two sisters, Myrtle Benso and Lu Strada.

A Hugoton resident, Mrs. Horst had previously lived in Ellinwood, Sylvia and Anthony, all in Kansas; Pauls Valley, Okla.; Carmi, Ill.; and Casper, Wyo. She was a member of Hugoton United Methodist Church, UMW, Ulysses Chapter No. 471 of Eastern Star, PEO and the Red Hat Society at Pioneer Manor.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Reidel of Eagle Rock, Mo., Janice Cutter of Garden City, and Barbara Morris of Hugoton; a sister, Geraldine Fink of Russell; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was at Hugoton United Methodist Church. Burial was at Hugoton Cemetery.
