J. Joseph Lower, 88, of Rushville died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at his daughter's home in St. Charles, Mo.

Born Nov. 24, 1921, in Rushville, he was the son of John Lower and Favora (Goddard) Lower. He married Edna Nixon on Nov. 26,1942, and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2002.

Survivors include his daughter, Judy Schwartz; sons, Steve Lower and Mark Lower; one sister, three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one great-grandchild .

Mr. Lower was the Rush-Shelby Energy manager for several years.

He had been active in 4-H, Shares Inc., president of Rush County Arc, Rush County Senior Citizens, Toastmasters, Exchange Club, and the Indiana chapter of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.

Mr. Lower was a past member of the Little Blue River Church of Christ, where he served as deacon, trustee, and treasurer.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Moster Mortuary, 334 N. Main St. in Rushville.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Lower was the RushShelby Energy manager for several years. He had been active in 4-H; Shares, Inc.; Rush County ARC (president); Rush Co. Senior Citizens; Toastmasters; Exchange Club; Indiana Chapter of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors; and past member of Little Blue River Church of Christ, where he served as deacon, trustee, and treasurer.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with John Skomp officiating. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon Saturday at the mortuary.
