Mrs Early was born in the state of New York July 17 1813 and moved with her parents , Thomas and Hannah Holden to Kentucky and thence to Edgar county Illinois in 1820. She was married to Josiah Early in 1828 and five years later they came to Douglas county, where she lived until her death. She was the mother of eight children, three of whom survive her. They are Mrs Irene Lewis of this county, Mrs Faucet of McKune, Kansas, and Josiah of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a widow in 1853.
She became a christian at the age of 18 and from that time to the last moment of her life she was ever an earnest christian worker. Many can recall the pleading exhortations she never failed to give when opportunity offered. In her last illness she spoke often of the happy meeting she was expecting at Jesus' feet. At 12:40 o'clock the 20th day of October, 1903 she finished her life work, being 90 years. 3 months and 3 days old.
Funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev. Braithwaite of Ivesdale and assited by Rev. Kosh. Interment took place at the Lewis Cemetery.
