On July 17, 1917 as N. Landon Burchell, he married Estelle Lesley Royster at St. John's Episcopal Church the District of Columbia. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Edward Dunlap.
They were the parents of two children.

N.L. Burchell Dies While Playing Golf
Stricken suddenly with a heart attack while on the golf course at Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania, yesterday afternoon, N.L. Burchell, 69, prominent Washington grocer, died before aid could reach him.
Mr. Burchell went to the Pennsylvania resort on a vacation with his wife and two daughters, Leslie and Charlotte. The later was with him when he died. The body will be brought to Washington and funeral services held tomorrow in St. John's Episcopal Church, Sixteenth and H Streets Northwest, the Rev. L.A. Shearer officiating.
