Daughter of the late Samuel and Rose Warren Ward, she married Cecil Ross Bullock on December 15, 1940. He did on October 16, 2003. She was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church in Williamston, NC. She was the last survivor of a family of eight siblings. She was survived by two daughters, Kay Shelton and her husband David, and Kathy Spruill and her husband Joe; five grandchildren; and eight-grandchildren. Her funeral was held on February 4, 2010.
