Joseph Thomas Bebek was born and baptized Jozo Toma Bebek of Vojnići, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His parents were Toma Bebek and Manda (Roso) Bebek of Vojnići. Jozo arrived at Ellis Island in 1910 and after arrival, changed his name to Joseph Thomas Bebek.
