FORT WORTH - Sarah Bird Ainsworth, 98, a retired comptometer operator for Armour & Co., died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Fort Worth .

Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Friday in St. Rita Catholic Church. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Vigil: 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.

Memorials: Sister of St. Mary of Namur, 909 W. Shaw, Fort Worth 76110.

Sarah Louise Bird Ainsworth was born Oct. 10, 1902, in Fort Worth . She worked for 20 years in the accounting department of Armour and Company. She was an accomplished seamstress and excelled in the culinary arts.

She was a member of Saint Patrick Cathedral and was a gifted soprano in the Cathedral Choir for more than three decades.

Her husband of 36 years, L.M. Ainsworth, passed away in 1968.

Survivors: Son, Joseph Ainsworth and his wife, Joan, of Fort Worth ; daughter, Marcia Ainsworth Stefan and her husband, Joseph, of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Dr. Alan Ainsworth of Houston, Michael Ainsworth of Euless, Scott Stefan and his wife, Debbie, of Santa Barbara, Calif., Annette Stefan of Charlotte, N.C.; and great-granddaughter, Erin McNeely of Charlotte, N.C.
