William married 3rd) Cornelia A. Hooker Jun 15, 1876 in Poultney, Rutland Co, VT. She is buried in Poultney Cemetery in Vermont and died after William, in 1903.
William moved west to Los Angeles, California with his daughter, Ida, and her husband, Francis Butler. William purchased a large home in Los Angeles on 6th and Main and pictures of the parlor, where the family entertained the "Los Angeles Culture Club" on Valentine's Day still exist, though the home does not. Ever proud of his home town roots, William requested that "Groveland, N.Y." be inscribed on his headstone. And, his daughter, Ida, saw that it was.
