Robert was first-generation American of Hungarian immigrant parents, Louis and Julia Beres. He grew up in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York within the confines of an extended family at 72 Green Street. Though he was an only child, he was surrounded by doting grandparents, aunts and uncles; he had several cousins with whom he remained close to into adulthood. Bob was very tall, handsome and one of the kindest people on earth. He married his first wife while serving in the US Army during World War II. Together they had a beautiful daughter. Bob was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor Attack. After his military service, he worked for the US Postal Service. He spent much of his life living with his second wife in Flushing, New York, and in 1988 they moved to Coral Springs, FL. Bob was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Group and St. Andrew Catholic Church where he served as an usher for over 10 years.
