Elsie Maude O'Briant, eldest daughter of James E. and Melvina O’Briant, was born near Glenwood, Missouri on October 22, 1888, and departed this life April 13, 1938, at Kirksville hospital at the age of 49 years, 5 months and 22 days.

On April 1, 1908 she was united in marriage to Elza T. Vittetoe of near Julesburg, Mo. To this union were born three sons, Aubrey E., Edward A., Carol W., and one daughter, Helen L. Vittetoe.

The family lived near Queen City until 1928 when they moved to Shelby county, Missouri and later to Knox County, at present living near Novelty.

She accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the Bethel M. E. church when but a girl and later placed her membership with her husband in the Antioch Christian church. After moving to Shelby County she placed her membership in the Cherry Box Christian church where she was an active member as long as her health permitted.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, Elza T. Vittetoe, three sons, Aubrey E. Vittetoe of Murtaugh, Idaho, Edward A. Vittetoe of Shelbyville, Missouri and Carol W. Vittetoe and one daughter, Helen L. Vittetoe at home, and one grandson, Jerry Edward Vittetoe. Also her mother, Mrs. Melvina O’Briant of Queen City, two brothers, Hubert J. O'Briant of Princeton, H. C. O'Briant of Lancaster, three sisters, Mrs. Luther Gosser, Mrs. Frank Johnson and Mrs. Frank Ikerd of Queen City. Two sisters preceded her in death, Hazel who died in infancy and Mrs. Ruby Johnson. Her father departed this life June 21, 1906.

A short funeral service was held at the home near Novelty, Thursday afternoon on account the husband being confined to his bed with rheumatic fever. The body was then brought to Queen City and another service held Saturday afternoon in the Christian church at two o’clock. The services were conducted by the pastor Perly M. Lind, and interment was made in the Queen City cemetery.
