"Former Atchison County Sheriff Dies at St. Joe.
Funeral services for Edward B. McCullough, 72, who died at 7 p.m. yesterday at his home, 6214 Brown street, St. Joseph, will be held at the Sawin & Dyer chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Lancaster cemetery. He was sheriff of Atchison county 1922 to 1924 and served as deputy sheriff from 1914 to 1922. He worked many years for the locomotive Finished Material Co. in Atchison before his retirement two years ago. Born in the Shannon community Dec.2, 1880, he was a son of Elgin Hugh and Sarah Jane Rankin McCullough, and spent most of his life in Atchison and Lancaster except for the year 1927, when he lived in Oklahoma and Texas. His wife, who was Miss Mildred May Lowe before her marriage , preceded him in death in July 1942, His mother died in 1943. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gayle Brown, Kansas City, and three grandchildren."
