My Grandmother: Minnie Ruth Logan Brown was born in 1904. When she was 14, she lost her mother, father, her 19 year old sister Mary, and a baby sister Eveline. During that time, my grandmother also became ill, and she was presumed dead. She must have been in a type of coma, for when she came to, she was lying in a coffin at their home. The children were split among family members, my grandmother staying with her older brother Jesse. When she was 16, she married my grandfather, John Edward Brown. They had six children. My mother, Katherine, was the oldest, then Thomas Edward, Mary Elizabeth, Marion Earl, Betty Mae, and youngest, Jesse Lee. She worked in the Sibley Cotton Mill in Augusta until she retired.

She lived on Marks Church Road in Augusta. She died on a Friday, Nov. 18th, in 1988 at Rebecca's Health Care Home.
Her funeral was held at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street, with the Rev. Wayne Hodges officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery. She was a native of McDuffie County and was the daughter of Milledge and Mary Lou Logan.
She was a Baptist.
