MRS. CROPSY AUSTIN PHIILLIPS
Mrs. Cropsy Austin Phillips, native of Union county, and until recently a resident of Monroe, died in a Charlotte hospital at 9:40 last Tuesday morning, after a short illness. She was 31 years of age and resided at 3513 Eastway Drive.
Mrs. Phillips was the former Miss Nellie Cropsy Austin, the daughter of Mrs. D. Austin and the late Mr. Austin of Monroe. Surviving are her mother, her husband, a little daughter, Bobbie, and an infant son; six sisters, Mrs. Timothy Deese, Mrs. Neal Tucker, Mrs. Ward Duncan, Miss Marilyn Austin, all of Monroe; Mrs. Vernal Howard of Albemarle, Mrs. Oliver Gilliam of Burlington, and three brothers, T. J. Austin of Burlington, Clayton Austin of Charlotte, and a half-brother, Walter Turner of Kannapolis.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Green Memorial Baptist church in Charlotte, conducted by Rev. W. L. Griggs. Interment was in Sharon Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were L. S. Norman, W. M. James, E. P. Fite, B. B. Parker, Jack Renfrow and Don W. Fite.
