Marshall Jackson was the maternal grandson of Peter Miller who was a Revolutionary War patriot born in NJ and later settled in Fairmont, WV. Marshall was married to Christina Jane Hamilton, who was the maternal granddaughter of Revolutionary War patriot Boaz Fleming who founded Fairmont, WV.

Marshall was a miller and hotel owner. In the steps of their father, he and a brother, Oliver, operated their father's saw and grist mills for awhile, and then built flouring mills in Wheeling and Cameron, WV.

In 1875, he went to Moundsville, WV and took charge of the Campbell House, which was a first-class hotel (for its day).

Although Mormon and other online sites show Feb 9 as his birthday, our family bible - with recordings from his immediate family - and other family records confirm Feb 19. It is safe to presume that immediate family would be more accurate.
