Ronald Lee ‘Ron' Weigleb, 60; retired Floyd Central teacher and coach.

Funeral services for Ronald Lee "Ron" Weigleb, 60, of Floyds Knobs, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, at the Floyd Central High School Football Stadium, followed by private entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Norton Hosparus in Louisville.

He was a teacher and coach with the New Albany-Floyd County School Corp. from 1973 until his retirement in 2003. He was a graduate of Taft Junior College, Tulsa University and later earned his masters degree from Indiana University. He began his teaching and football coaching career in 1973 at New Albany High School for his first seven years. He then moved to Floyd Central High School where he coached for more than 23 years, being head football coach for 20 of those years, retiring in 2003. His life and profession had an immeasurable impact on the many players and students he coached, taught and guided through life.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Jan M. Weigleb; children, Kelly Weigleb, of New Albany, Anthony Weigleb and wife, Stephanie, of Indianapolis and Kyle Weigleb, of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Korey Weigleb; brothers, Tony Weigleb, of New Albany and Eddy Weigleb and wife, Roxanne, of Pekin; sisters, Joann Johnson and husband, David and Sandy Campbell, both of New Albany; mother-in-law, Mary L. Swank, of Jeffersonville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Weigleb; sister, Rosie Neumann; brother-in-law, Charles Campbell; and father-in-law, George Swank.

Visitation at Kraft Funeral Services, Spring Street Chapel, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3 and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Coach Ron Weigleb Memorial Scholarship Fund, New Albany Floyd County Schools Credit Union, 3105 Grant Line Road, New Albany, 47150.
