Virginia was born April 3, 1927 in Rogers, Nebraska, to Grover and Pearl (Starmer) Coleman.
As a young girl, her family moved to Hordville and Virginia graduated from Hordville High School in 1945.
On May 24, 1945, Virginia Coleman and Morris Nitzel were united in marriage in Belleville, Kansas. They made their home and raised their family in Central City. Virginia helped her husband on the farm and with the dairy herd until the early 1960's, when she went to work for Randy's Meats in Central City until it closed in the mid 1970's. She then went to work at Atlantic Homes in Central City until her retirement. Morris died on May 5, 2004; and Virginia continued to live in the house that was her home for 46 years.
Virginia was a member of the Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church near Clarks.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and canning; but she especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her dog, Foxy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Doug and Sue Nitzel of Hordville; Mike and Diane Nitzel of Gilbert, Arizona; Jean Munn of Chapman; and Peg and Alan Schweitzer of Central City; her brother-in-law Paul Nitzel of LaMesa, California; and a host of friends and relatives.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; grandson, Mario Munn; son-in-law Jack Munn; great grandson Ricky Osantowski; sister Vernice Olsen; brothers Virgil and Vic Coleman; and niece Maureen Graves.
