Russell William Hawke, 83, died on March 14, 2001. Born February 2, 1918 in Mamoth, Utah the son of William H. and Elizabeth Hawke.
Russ married Donna L. Morgan on May 13, 1939. After Donna's death, he married Mavis Johnson Sadler on October 23, 1996. Stationed in the South Pacific, he served during World War II as a US Navy CB. He worked as a tile contractor from 1936 until he formally retired in 2000. He started Hawke Tile Company in 1952 and operated with his son, Rusty, for over 30 years.
He loved the outdoors. He was happiest when working on his cabin or fishing and hunting with his family and friends. Also, he loved snowbirding with the gang in Big River, CA. P.S. Cocktail hour is still at 4 p.m. He was a charter member of the Elk's Club, Cottonwood 2344. He was a past District Commander of the American Legion, member of the 40/8 and the VFW.
Dad was an amazing man. Gruff and tough on the outside, with a heart of gold on the inside, he showed his sons and grandchildren how to work hard, play hard and have a sense of humor through the good times and the bad. Dad, We will miss you. Remember, you promised to scout heaven for good fishing holes, the good pheasant fields and the draw where the big bucks run.
Survivors are his son, Russell L. Hawke; daughter-in-law, Ellen Graves; their kids: Elizabeth, Jason and Jennifer; son, Korey B. (Eileen) Hawke and sons: Eric, Chris, Colten and Dillon; great-granddaughter, Lea and brother, Wilbur. Preceded in death by his wives: Donna Morgan Hawke and Mavis Sadler Hawke and two sisters: Bea and Bessie.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 17, 2001 at 12 noon in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 S. Highland Dr., where family and friends may call on Friday 6-8 p.m. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
