ELIZABETH AGATHA AANENSON, age 85, of Luverne, died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Sioux Valley Luverne Hopsital. Elizabeth Hagemann was born to Ernst Godfry and Bernadina (Bodenburg) Hagemann on January 7, 1921 in Borsum, Hanover, Germany. She attended Luverne Public School. At the age of 3, she left Hamburg, Germany, and arrived at Ellis Island on February 6, 1924 on board the Minnkahda, with her father, mother, and 7 brothers and sisters. Elizabeth married T. Alexander Aanenson on July 13, 1938 in Luverne. For nearly 30 years prior to his death, the couple operated a livestock and grain trucking business. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Her favorite pastimes were fishing and working in her garden.

She became a U.S. citizen on November 26, 1963.

She is survived by her daughter, Ellen R. Smit, Andover, MN; sons, Gregory A. (Laura) Aanenson, Champlin, MN; and Mark A. (Gloria) Aanenson, Champlin, MN; grandchildren, Paul D. (Nicole) Smit, Mapleton, MN; David K. (Carla) Smit, Brooklyn Center, MN; Gregory C.A. Aanenson, Minnetonka, MN; Danielle M. Aanenson, Portland, OR; and Justin M. and Andrew M. Aanenson, Champlin, MN; great grandchildren, Kayla N. Smit, RaeAnne J. Smit, Salena L.A. Smit, Mapleton, MN; Alicia E.L. Smit and Lucy M. Smit, Brooklyn Center, MN; sisters, Veronica Kern, Inwood, IA; and Monica Schaefer, Worthington, MN; and one brother, Leo Hagemann, Sturgis, SD; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, T. Alexander, son Gary L. Aanenson, sister Margaret and brothers Frank, Ernest, Jack, Andrew, and Aloysius. Blessed Be Her Memory.
