Ketchum, Velma Irene Combs - Velma Irene Combs, youngest daughter of Charles and Ida Combs, was born April 8, 1913, on a farm north of New Market and died at her home in Williamson, Iowa, on July 22, 1954, at the age of 41 years and three months.

Her childhood was spent in New Market and she attended New Market high school and later moved with her parents to Villisca, then to Hepburn.

On November 20, 1943 she was married to William Bernard Ketcham of Elnora, Ind., and three years later following his discharge from service they moved to Williamson where they made their home. Five children were born to this union, Stanley Bernard, 10; Meredith Irene, 7; Karen Kay, 6; Anita Mary, 5; Martin William, 18 months.

She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters, Lena and Pearl. Surviving besides her husband and children are her mother, Mrs Ida Combs, New Market; four brothers, Dewey of Glenwood, Johnnie of New Market, Harry and Glen of Gravity, and one sister, Mrs Arnold Bashor of New Market.

Rev C.W. Severn conducted funeral services at the Methodist church and Miss Shirley McAlpin was soloist, Mary Anderson, pianist. Casket bearers were Dalphon Bashor, Donald Bashor, Estel Combs, Lyle Combs, Neil Combs and Alvin McAlpin. Vaughn McAlpin, Jean Hartman, Marjorie Carlson and Dorlene Graham cared for the flowers.
