John worked for the St. Louis-San Francisco Railroad. In the late 1910's, he was a locomotive fireman. He later was an engineer.
He died of an infection in 1933 at the age of 48.

After John's death, Rose married William Cary King, Jr. on 04 Mar 1943 in Denver, Colorado. He was a native of Fostoria, Ohio, but spent much of his early life in Pueblo, Colorado. He then attended high school in Paw Paw, Michigan.
A military man, William served in the United States Navy. After that, he spent 7 years in France and Germany as a member of the 154th Coast Guard Artillery and then as a member of Company G of the 46th Infantry.
After his discharge from the service, he worked for the Burlington Railroad as a brakeman until his retirement in 1951. He then operated a tailoring shop in Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa.
William was ill off and on for the final 8 years of his life. He died at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City in 1954 at the age of 62.
Children from second marriage: None.
Rose lived until 1970. At the time of her death, she was 84 years, 2 months and 22 days old.
She was buried next to her first husband, John.
