The youngest of 10 children born to Elijah Noah Rice and Levia Ann Kirk Rice; the only boy baby to survive and he lived 80 years. He was such an industrious man; always working and doing for others. He was an optimist - seeing the glass as half full, never half empty. He had 3 children: Martha Rice Lang, Dorsey E. Rice, Sr., and David E. Rice, Sr.; 4 grandchildren; and, 4 great-grandchildren. He was a Christian and a Son of a Confederate Veteran; always patriotic and served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Henderson. He served in Pearl Harbor after the bombing.
