Alma was widowed in 1918 when her husband died in a tragic hay-wagon accident. She traveled extensively in Europe during the 1920's, and lived in Glenbeulah until her death in 1954 at the Enders Nursing Home.

Obituary (Feb 24, 1954): She was born April 20, 1870, in Oshkosh, Wis., a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Meusel. Her marriage to Herman C. Maurer was performed Sept. 18, 1888. The couple made their home at Glenbeulah since their marriage. Mrs. Maurer was a member of Loyalty Chapter No. 118, Order of Eastern Star, at Plymouth, and the Royal Neighbors of America.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. James (Elfrieda) Severson, Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. William C. (Waleska) Bub, Plymouth; two sons, Dr. Erwin H., Hollywood, Fla., and Oswald H., Flushing, L. I.; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Walter E., Green Bay, and Dr. Harry, Oshkosh; a sister, Mrs. Fred Ubbelohde, New Richmond, Wis; a half brother, Norbert Baumann, Menasha, and two step-brothers, Fred Baumann of Glenbeulah, and Alfred Baumann, Los Angeles, Calif. Her husband, one daughter, three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
