He was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Mississippi County, the son of Oscar Thomas and Willie Graham Ashby.
In 1946, he married Mary Jane Curtis, who survives.
He was a 21-year U.S. Air Force veteran, and had been employed with the U.S. Government Printing Office in Alexandria, Va. until his retirement.
Other survivors include two sons, Clifton Michael and Marshall James Ashby; three brothers, John T., Robert and Clyde Ashby; and a sister, Elouise McCarty.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be held Monday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
