FAYETTEVILLE — Funeral services for George E Pickett III 67 will be conducted Thursday at 4 pm from the St Johns Episcopal Church here The Rev Roscoe C Hauser will officiate Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park with full Masonic rites.
Mr. Pickett, the grandson of the Confederate general who led a famous charge at Gettysburg, held numerous military distinctions. His death came Sunday at the Veterans Hospital here where he was being treated for a heart condition.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. June Oglesby Pickett of Winston-Salem, one son, Major George Edward Pickett IV with the U S Army in Turkey, two daughters, Miss Virginia June Pickett of Gulfport, Miss., and Suzanne Pickett of Okinawa; one brother, Col. Christiancy Pickett of San Rafael, Calif., and two grand children.
