Michael Strong, son of James Strong, was born in York County, PA October 4, 1794. He migrated with his father's family to Indiana County, PA in 1810 and located in Buffington township now owned by his sons George and James, and walked to Harrisburg to get the patent for it in 1817. He made improvement on his land by clearing away the forest trees and erecting a log house. In 1819 he married Hannah Reed, born in 1797, daughter of Samuel Reed. They moved in the house he erected and lived on the same farm until he died, Sept 8, 1862. They reared a family of 10 children: Catharine, Christian, Moses, Samuel, Michael, George Saunder,(*), Henry, Sarah and James.
