Mrs. Martha "Mattie" Arminda (Simpson) Lakey for more then 30 years a resident of Orofino, died this week at Seattle, shortly after passing her 101st birthday. Mrs. Lakey was born before the outbreak of the civil war, February 5, 1860, at Sparta, Tennessee. Her mother, Amy Arminda (Looper) died a few days after her birth. Her father was Richard Simpson of White co., Tennessee.
Her first marriage was to Martin A. Roberson, and to this union six children were born, two of whom survive, including Mrs. Lillie Ratliff of Seattle, with whom Mrs. Lakey had made her home since 1949, and a son, Arthur C. Robinson of Colville.
After the death of her first husband, Mrs. Lakey married Richard A. Lakey [1903]in Willbarger, Texas.
On her 100th birthday she received congratulatory telegrams from President Eisenhower and governor Albert Rosellini.
