Robert O. "Bob" Burdett, 76, of 5019 Southport Road, died at 10:44 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Proctor Hospital. Born April 11, 1923, in Peoria County to Albert and Cora Vicary Burdett, he married Velma I. Williams on Dec. 8, 1979, in Peoria. Three brothers and one stepdaughter preceded him in death. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion in Dunlap, AMVETS and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was Kickapoo Township road commissioner. He owned Bob and Ell's Tap. He also worked at Koenig Body & Equipment and last worked as a heavy-equipment operator for Becker Bros. Construction, retiring in 1987. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 649. He also was a member of Radnor Rod & Gun Club, Moose Lodge of Greater Peoria and the Izaak Walton League. Burial will be in Pottstown Cemetery.
