James Oscar Shupperd died at the age of 73 at his home at 132 South Third street at 8:10 a.rn. today following an illness of seven months. Last rites are planned at 10 a.rn. Saturday at Young’s Funeral home with Rev. Robert W. Morris in charge. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. The body will lie in state at Young’s from Thursday afternoon until time for rites.
A native of Tipton county, Shupperd was a lumberman. He was born April 12, 1879 to David and Mary (Plake) Shupperd. One of eight children in the family, he resided all his life in Tipton. Shupperd’s wife, Rosa Maroney, died July 8, 1939. Survivors include one brother, John Shupperd, of Tipton.
