Rites Held for Mrs. John Sykora

Funeral services for Mrs. John Sykora, 61, wife of a prominent wheat and cotton farmer of the Spring Creek community, were held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Blessed Assumption. Father Paul Mosler was in charge of services and burial was at Megargel Cemetery under direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sykora died Saturday at her home. She had been in poor health since undergoing an operation 27 years ago, her death coming on the anniversary of the operation.
A native Texan born in Lavaca County, she was married to John Sykora in Hallettsville in 1913. They came to Young County in 1918, settling on a farm between the Spring Creek and Round Timber communities. They lived in that area for 25 years.
Survivors include the husband; two sons, Johnnie Sykora of Seymour and Louis Sykora of Spring Creek; two daughters, Miss Aline Sykora of Spring Creek and Mrs. A. A. Wrobleski of Fort Worth; one brother, Albert Benes of Shiner; four sisters, Mrs. Charlie Krupala of Shiner, Mrs. Frank Matula of Runge, Mrs. Anton Vanek of Hallettsville, and Mrs. August Peters of Seymour; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Fred Peters, August Peters, Charlie Peters, Frank Matula, and John Simek.
