EDWARD R. BLANK,75, of the Woodlyn section of Ridley Township, a retired news dealer, died Jan. 20, at Wallingford Nursing Home in Nether Providence after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.
Mr. Blank was born in Chester. He was a 1953 graduate of Chester High School. Mr. Blank was a former bus driver for Rose Tree Media School District. He owned Woodlyn News until 2005 and was also the previous owner of Woodlyn Variety Store on Fairview Road for many years.
A veteran of the Coast Guard and the Merchant Marines, Mr. Blank served as a radio operator. He was a member of the Ridley Sports club. Mr. Blank enjoyed making friends while driving the school bus, trips to Atlantic City with his wife, reading financial papers, following the stock market, Big Band and Latin music and dancing. He was the son of the late Edward L. and Thelma Blank and the brother of the late Stephanie Ulmer.
Survivors: Wife of 48 years, Patricia A. Wilent Blank; daughter, Patricia "Pat-Pat" A. Blank Donato of Swarthmore; sister, Loretta Wiley of the Havertown section of Haverford; two grandchildren.
Service: 8 p.m. Monday, James M. Brower Funeral Home, 908 S. Providence Road, Wallingford section of Nether Providence.
Visitation: 7-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
