JOHN F BREEDEN
John Franklin Breeden, 94, of Shenandoah, passed away Jan. 21, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Breeden worked for Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore, Md., Alliance in Shenandoah and owned and operated a grocery store in Berrytown, near Elkton and in Page County for a number of years. He retired from Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He attended the Shenandoah Assembly of God Church and was a member of the Shenandoah Moose Lodge and AARP. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and being with his friends.
On Jun 6,1992, he married Linda Vance Breeden, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Martha Ann Downey and husband, Forest, of Elkton and Fonda Painter of Shenandoah; and 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Mr. Breeden was preceded in death by his first wife, Elva F Breeden, and brothers, Charles E "Cut" Breeden, Howard B "Red" Breeden and Grover C "Pud" Breeden.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan 25,2010 at the Shenandoah Assembly of God Church. Pastor Carter Dean and the Rev. Rick Kerfoot will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Sam Comer Cemetery in Steam Hollow.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kyger funeral Home in Elkton.
