Katherine was born in Germany on May 11, 1806. She married Johannes (John) Gerhardt on January 9, 1825.
In 1838 they immigrated to America.
John and Katherine were married for 64 years. They had 13 children, 8 sons and 5 daughters, of which 3 sons and 3 daughters were living at Katherine's death.
She was the mother of John Philip, George, Elisabeth, Infant, Margaretha, Frederick, Katherine, Maria, Helena and William.

Catharina Gerhardt died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Stillinger, on the Town Line Road in Wales, NY, October 2, 1897 at the age of 91 years 4 months and 20 days.

Mrs. Catherina Gerhardt, nee Masser, was born in Franklin, Krumbach, May 11, 1806. married January 9, 1825, to John Gerhardt of Reinheim, Hesse-Darmstadt, where they remained until 1838. In that year they emigrated to the United States and settled in Sheldon, Wyoming County, NY, where they lived happily together until November 16, 1889 when they were parted by the death of her husband.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt enjoyed their married life together for 64 years during which time they were blessed with 13 children, 8 sons and 5 daughters, of which there are now living 3 sons and 3 daughters. Also 27 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren.

For several years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. George Stillinger, where she peacefully passed away her declining years.

The funeral was largely attended at the German Church, Dutch Hollow, on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. R. F. Schulze officiating.
