John Leslie "Blackie" Boggs, 87, of Grayson, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at his residence.
He was born August 25, 1922, at Hitchins, Ky., a son of the late Rand and Rebecca Murphy Boggs.
Mr. Boggs was a carpenter, farmer, and a U.S. WWII Army Air Force Veteran.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce L. Cains.
His survivors include, his wife of 68 years, Jewell Hay Boggs, one daughter, Carolyn Kay Boggs of Grayson, Ky., five sons, John F.(Diane) Boggs of Hitchins., Ky., George C.(Carolyn) Boggs of Grayson, Billy Joe (Joyce) Boggs of Willard, Ky., Marvin L. (Marsha) Boggs of Grayson, Ky., and Timmy (Judy) Boggs of Covington, Ky., three sisters, Essie Isaacs, Hattie Baier and Minnie Womack, all of Grayson, Ky., 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2010, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with Mike Rice, minister. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens. Graveside rites will be conducted by East Carter J.R.O.C.T.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 24, 2010, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
