Daughter of Osben Strickland and Elizabeth Janitt or Janiit Strickland.

Ben and Mary Jane Strickland Brown had twins named Joseph and Jossie Brown born about Oct. 1895. According to family members, Jossie died before 1900 and Joseph died around age 15 or 17. According to family members Jossie and Joseph are buried in Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Omaha, Randolph County, Alabama close to Ben and Mary J. Strickland Brown in an unmarked grave. Joseph shows up in the 1900 and 1910 census in the Walnut Hill district of Heard County, Georgia.

On Wednesday, Rt.2

Mrs. Mary Jane Brown died Sunday afternoon at her home on Wedowee, Rt.2. She was 78 years old. Funeral services were conducted at Big Springs Baptist Church at noon Monday by Rev. Jeff Talley, with Quattlebaum directing, and burial was in the Big Springs cemetery.
Mrs. Brown is survived by four sons: Jim, of Heard County, Ga., Tom (supposed to be Lon) and Lee of Omaha; and J.H., of Wedowee, Rt.2.
