Bernita Ruth Washington Buck went to be with her Lord on January 20,2010 at the age of 83 at Carl Albert Hospital in Ada,OK. Born July 29, 1926 in Bixby, OK to Abbey Wilson and Walter Washington; she was baptized at Little Cussetah Indian Baptist at the age of 14 by George Bosen and later joined Many Springs Indian Baptist Church. Bernita graduated from Bixby Schools in 1944 and went to Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas, graduating in 1946. She enjoyed sewing and worked at several companies: Bryan Infantwear in Tulsa, OK; Big Yank and Seamproof in Holdenville. She also enjoyed beading, reading, and going to garage sales. She was an excellent cook, especially chicken and dumplings. Bernita is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Buck; parents; brother, Bill Washington and sister, Esther Lane. She is survived by her children: Vernon Elliott "Chebon" Buck and wife, Diane, of Ada, OK; Jerri "Neicy" Buck of Norman, OK; Ramona Faulkner and husband, Tony, of Tulsa, OK; Richard Buck and wife, Barbara, of Tulsa, OK; Steven Buck of Illinois; grandchildren: Cara Criswell and husband, James; Lori Rico and Dustin Buck, all of Ada, OK; Jason Lovato of the home; Chris Lovato and wife, Erika; Jamie Fulghum and husband, Harold; Alicia King and husband, Thomas, all of Holdenville, OK; Ronnie Buck of Ada, OK; Brandon Lowe and wife, Kara, of Norman, OK; Katrina McClure and ­­Leo Rojo of Lawrence, KS; Tonya Faulkner and Ayo Warledo; Rayna Faulkner and Mary Buck all of Tulsa, OK. She is survived by brothers: Jerry Washington of Ada, OK and Wiley Washington of Glenpool, OK, and sister, Loretta Harjo of Tulsa, OK; brother-in-law, Nathan "Wahoo" Buck, and sisters-in-law, Margaret Siegrist; Leona Brooks; Judy, Connie, Doreen, Sue, Linda and Arlis Buck; Norma Jean Sharp and Joyce McCosar; twenty great-grandchildren, and numerous family and friends. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Chris Lovato, Jason Lovato, Ronnie Buck, Dustin Buck, Brandon Lowe, and Ryan Rico. Honorary pallbearers are nephews: Robin Buck, Mitch Buck, Otis Buck, Bobby Buck, BJ Buck, John Buck, Jackie Siegrist Jr., Greg Washington, and Billy Lane. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Many Springs Indian Baptist Church with the Reverend Jimmie Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at the McCosar Family Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
