On Monday afternoon last Daniel Frantz, a single man aged about thirty-five years, was working in the woods on the Kuntz tract, a mile south of Troutville, with his cousin Thomas Frantz when a limb that had lodged on the tree they were cutting, fell and struck both men, fracturing the skull of Daniel and killing him almost instantly. Thomas was struck on the head and arm but was not seriously injured.
Daniel Frantz was a hard working man and was very generally respected. He had resided in the locality where he met his death since childhood. The funeral took place yesterday (Thursday) morning. Services were held in the Reformed Church, Rev. Mr. Metzgar preaching the sermon. The remains were interred in the Union Cemetery.
