Ambrose Teel Jewett, age 29, was almost instantly killed yesterday when he slipped on spilled oil and became entangled by the large gears of a large gasoline shovel at the W.D. Miller construction company's plant north of this city. The accident occurred about 5 o'clock p.m. just as the men were finishing work.
Mrs. Alveda Jewett, wife of the dead man was overcome by the shock of the news. She had been preparing dinner for her husband and children at the family home 2435 Union Avenue, when informed of the accident. She is the mother of five children by a former marriage. Her first husband was accidentally killed seven years ago.
Jewett is survived by his mother, Mrs. A.T. Jewett of Chico, Calif. [sic] (Mother is Mrs. J. L. Jewett of Chico, Calif.)

Ambrose Teel Jewett late of 2435 Union Avenue, passed away Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock death resulting from accidental injuries. He was born in the state of Missouri, June 24, 1901 and aged 29 years 4 months and 25 days at the time of death. He is survived by his wife Alveda Jewett and five children Vernice, Ralph, Gordon, George and Ruth all of this city, his mother Mrs. A.T. Jewett of Chico, California. [sic] (Mother is Mrs. J. L. Jewett of Chico, California.)
The remains are in the gold room of the Earl Whitlock Funeral Home, Pine Avenue at Sixth where friends may call. Announcement of funeral arrangements will be made later.
