Mass of the Resurrection for D. Clare Allen ... in Clifton will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Koenigsfeld officiating. Mr. Allen died Sunday at Community Hospital after a brief illness. He was 71.

Mr. Allen, a retired pipe fitter and welder, had lived in the Clifton area for 24 years.

He was born Jan 25, 1915, at Aztec, N.M., to Dave and Ada Tatteshall Allen and spent his childhood in eastern Colorado.

He married Eileen Kaiser July 15, 1937, in Canon City. Mrs. Allen survives.

Mr. Allen served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic CVhurch.

He enjoyed breaking horses to ride and was a member of the Grand Mesa Mule and Donkey Club.

Other survivors include three sons, Lawrence C. of Richardson, Texas, William D. of La Junta and Robert D. of Grand Junction; one sister, Fern Woodall of California; two brothers, Eugene B Allen of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Daniel Boone Allen of Portland, Ore.; and eight grandchildren.

Burial will follow in Palisade Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Colorado or to the American Cancer Association.
