The son of Mathias & Catherine (Long) Parthemore, in 1860 he was a blacksmith presumably living in Dauphin County, although his entire family seems to have escaped the notice of the census that year. He stood 5' 4" tall and had brown hair and gray eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg August 11, 1864, mustered into federal service there August 18 as a private with Co. F, 201st Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 21, 1865.
He married Emma S. Saul May 24, 1866, and fathered Jacob E. (b. 03/31/68), Ralph V. (b. 03/05/75), and Ella G. (b. 02/10/77). In 1900, he lived in Swatara Township, Dauphin County. - Additional bio per Dennis Brandt (#47232334).
