Pierced by a drill stem from the back of a parked truck on the highway between South Bend and Ivan, Sam J Allen of Graham was killed instantly. The truck was owned by Pitzer & West. Sam J Allen, his wife and their daughter, Tommie Allen were injured when the Allen car crashed into the truck. The daughters ran to find help while their mother waited with her husband.

Sam J Allen, his wife and two daughters were returned to their home in Graham, Texas after spending the week in Breckenridge, Texas. During that time, he attended the funeral of a niece, Mrs. J.C. Tambley. One of his daughters, a student in Abilene for the past school years, were returned with her parents to undergo an operation.

Sam J Allen was a resident of Stephens County and Young County since 1889.

Survived by his wife; three daughters - Willie, Tommie and Annie Allen; two sons - J.C. Allen and Fred Allen; four brothers - Edgar Allen, Tom Allen, Oscar Allen and Earl Allen; two sisters - Mrs. Charles Houston and Mrs. Bart Lindsey.
