Daughter of John Bernard Bax & Catherine Marie Boeckmann
1st wife of John Conrad Wankum, married 1872 St. Thomas

Information written in letter to Franz (in Germany) from Herman P. Luebbering in
St. Thomas, MO
dated September 8, 1988:

"My Grandma (Anna Marie Bax) parents were John Bernard and Catherine Bax.
They moved to St. Elizabeth (about 15 miles from St. Thomas). I don't know for
sure how many children they had. My Grandmother of course, married John Wankum
in 1872. Her brother, Phillip Bax married Catherine Wankum in 1873. Anna Bax
married Frank Veltrop in 1976. Herman Bax married Marian Kern in 1888. Theresa
Bax married a Mr. Ahrens and lived in Montrose, Missouri. I visited her in 1925
and 1926, while I lived there.
There were four or five of my mother's uncles living at St. Elizabeth, MO.
Frank Bax; Joseph Bax; and George Bax. I'm not sure, but I believe there was
also a Henry and Ben.
In our centennial book (The Heritage of St. Thomas), I noticed that a Catherine
Bax was a witness for the marriage of Steve Veltrop and Mary Bax in 1876 and for
Anna Bax and Frank Evers in 1874...information above give by R Shaefer findagrave contributor
