LANCASTER, Wis. -- Florentine M. Abing-Joyce, 76, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Lancaster, with the Rev. William Seipp officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Schwartz Funeral Home, Lancaster, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Dec. 19, 1933, in Dickeyville, daughter of Adolph and Marie (Schollmeyer) Wallenhorst.

She married Cyril Abing on Oct. 10, 1951, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tennyson; he preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1986. Together they farmed in Grant County. In 1965, they moved to the family farm south of Lancaster and raised their 10 children.

She enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, crocheting and vacationing with family and friends. On Sept. 9, 1989, Florentine married her soul mate, Dan Joyce, at St. Clement Catholic Church, Lancaster. They continued to enjoy life to the fullest with fishing, playing cards, playing Scrabble and many more vacations.

Surviving are her husband, Dan Joyce, of Lancaster; her children, Mary Kay (Jim Breuer) Abing, of Cassville, Peggy (David) Sturmer, of Lancaster, Randy (Jane) Abing, of Brodhead, Ron (Terri) Abing, of Lancaster, Chuck (Kim) Abing, of Lancaster, Keith (Lisa) Abing, of Appleton, Kevin Abing, of Neenah, Ellen (Randy "Zippy") Koeller, of Lancaster, Marty (Jenn) Abing, of Neenah, and Kurt Abing, of Fennimore; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and more on the way; Dan's children, Rachael Parks, of Humble, Texas, Fran Joyce, of Platteville, Tom Joyce, of La Crosse, Angela Joyce, of Rochester, Minn., and Jerry Joyce, of Platteville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Jeanette (Sylvester "Sid") Sedbrook, of La Crosse, Francis (Donna Mae) Wallenhorst, of Coon Rapids, Minn., Pat (friend Gib Key) Heer, of Prairie du Chien, Edna (LeRoy) Abresch, of St. Catherine, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.
