Jo-Ann Mary Abel nee Gates of West Chester died on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit of Chester County.
Born in Bloomfield, N.J., on Dec. 8, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Thelma Gates nee Elgar.
Jo-Ann was the wife of William F. Abel of West Chester.
She was a homemaker, a longtime board member and groundskeeper at Westtown Mews.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter, Dale Elaine Weiser (Ralf) of Coatesville; a son, John W. ‘Jay' Abel (Lindsay) of Coatesville; grandchildren, Katie and Max Weiser; and a brother, John Gates of Bradford.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 10, at 11:30 a.m. at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, April 10, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at The Donohue Funeral Home.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Chester County Cancer Center, 440 E. Marshall St., Suite 201, West Chester, PA 19380.
