Funeral services for Mr. Clarence Walter Durand will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2008 in the Rush Chapel, Hineston with Reverend Mackey Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Fellowship Methodist Cemetery, Hineston under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Hineston.

Mr. Durand, 83, of Elmer entered eternal rest on Monday, June 9, 2008 in the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Shreveport.

Clarence was a veteran of the United States Navy and did construction work all his life. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Lea Walker Durand; one son, Walter Earl Durand; three brothers, Elvin, Chalmas and Sherwood Durand and three sisters, Allie Johnson, Gussie Taylor and Gladys Nugent.

Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, C. A. Durand of Elmer and Dana Durand of Hamden, Connecticut; three daughters, Betty Loyd of Elmer, Margaret DeUgenio of Port Charlotte, Florida and Alice Durand of Blanchard; one brother, Hershal Durand of Elmer; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Hineston on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
