Rites Today For Victim Of Accident

Services for Curtis Leon Adams, 47, of 2735 Chestnut, are set for 2 p.m. today in the Westside Christian Church with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Adams was killed in a truck accident Friday in Meeker, Colo.

He was born April 23, 1929, in Bomarton, Tex., and married Ruby Joyce Mann on Sept. 1, 1951, in Crane. They came to Odessa from there in 1968. He was a veteran of World War II, a truck driver and a member of Westside Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; four daughters, Becky Jo Adams of the home, Patsy Ann Adams of the home, Joyce Marie Adams of 1144 Terry, and Pamela K. Cole of Houston; a brother, Bufford F. Adams of Lubbock; and a sister, Mrs. Eldon McKinney of Seymour.

Odessa Driver Dies In Colorado

MEEKER, Colo. (Staff) - An Odessa man, Curtis Leon Adams, 47, of 2735 Chestnut, was killed in a truck accident 26 miles east of Rangely, Colo., on Colorado Hwy. 64, Friday at 5:50 p.m.

Adams, owner of the 1972 truck tractor was employed with B.F. Walker. He was traveling west when the truck ran off the right side of the road, hit a curb, a power pole slid through a fence, slid down a hill, turned to its right side, rolled one time and came to a rest on its wheels' according to officers of the Colorado State Patrol.

Adams was thrown from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive head injuries according to a Colorado coroner.

He was taken to Carmain Funeral Home in Meeker, Colo.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $30,000. Officers offered no specualtion [sic] as to cause of the accident.

Officers investigating the accident included patrolmen Stephen Willson, Ronald Reed, and Lt. Edward Eitel with deputies and the sheriff of Rio Blanco County on the scene.

Services for Adams are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Accident kills Texas man

A 47-year-old Texas man died Friday afternoon when the tractor-trailer he was driving lost control on Colo. 64, 26 miles east of Rangely.

Curtis Leon Adams of Odessa, Tex., was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident from massive head injuries.

Colorado State Patrol officers reported Adams was eastbound on Colo. 65 at about 5:50 p.m., when his truck run off the right side of the road, struck a power pole, and slid down a hill on its side. Adams was thrown from the vehicle.
