MRS. A. BUMP, OLD TIME RESIDENT, PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Angeline Bump, for many years a resident of this community, died early Friday morning, Oct. 23 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Shemek at Columbus, after an illness of several years. She was 74 years of age.

As Angeline Bump she was born on Nov. 4, 1861 at Lockport, Ill., where she grew to womanhood and where her marriage to her first husband Frank Wells, took place. One son, Henry Wells, of Oregon City, Ore., was born to this union.

Four years after their marriage Mr. Wells died, and later Mrs. Wells was married to Alonzo Bump.

They came to Nebr. from Lockport in the year 1888 and located on a farm northwest of Silver Creek.

In the year 1913 they retired from the farm and moved into Silver Creek to reside, and one year later, on Mar. 7, 1914, Mr. Bump passed away.

Mrs. Bump continued to make Silver Creek her home until 1920 when she moved to Fullerton to reside.

For the past several years she has not enjoyed good health, and for several months had been spending much of her time here at the home of her son, Clayton Bump, and at the home of her daughter at Columbus.

She was a member of the Congregational Church of Silver Creek and during her long life had been a good friend and neighbor, and delighted in making the world more pleasant for all who knew her.

Besides her daughter and two sons, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mat Ludwig of Orland Park, Ill., and Mrs. Jesse Barnes of Roman, Mont., 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The body was brought to the Clayton Bump home in Silver Creek Sunday and at 2:30 Monday afternoon funeral services were held at the Congregational Church in Silver Creek, and were conducted by Rev. H. Turner, pastor of the Federated Church of Columbus.

Those from a distance who were here to attend the funeral were Mrs. Jesse Barnes of Ronon, Mont., Mrs. Mat Ludwig and son Jefferson of Oakdale Park, Ill.; George and Guy Bump of Lockport, Ill.

Burial was at the Silver Creek cemetery.

Following the funeral Mrs. Barnes accompanied the Ludwig folks back to Illinois for a visit.
