Born March 12, 1914, in Eddyville, she was the daughter of Alton Earl and Orra Olive (Milliron) Skinner.
She graduated from Kittanning High School and Maison Frederick School of Cosmetology in Pittsbugh.She then went on to graduate from Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in Wheeling, W. Va.
She was an employee of Bell Telephone and Juvenile Court in Pittsbrgh.
During World War II, she served in the Army Nurse Cadet Corps for three years. After the war, she entered into the private duty nursing field and spent the remainder of her nursing career working in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Florida hospitals and home care.
She loved to travel and was in almost all 50 states. She enjoyed fishing, especially in Florida.
She attended the Widnoon Methodist Church.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include a nephew, Ronald D. Powell and his wife, Arlene, of New Bethlehem; two great-nephews, Randy D. Powell and his wife, Brenda, of New Bethlehem, and Gary Powell of Hermitage; and a number of relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Avanelle Jo Powell; and a brother-in-law, Charles E. Powell.
Funeral services were held at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn with the Rev. Roger Smith officiting.
Interment was in Eddyville Cemetery, Redbank Township, Armstrong County.
