DEATH OF MRS. LUCY M. RYDER
Mrs. Lucy M. Ryder, on of Ithaca’s oldest residents, passed away last night. The deceased was born at Westford, Vt., February 9, 1805, and was married May 12, 1822. She came to Ithaca over sixty years ago, and for fifty years has resided in the house on Seneca street in which she died. Eight children, three sons and five daughters survive her: the sons are: James F. and John H. Ryder, of Cleveland, and Philip S., of Syracuse. Mrs. Ryder was the oldest member of the Methodist church in Ithaca. She was a remarkable woman, of rare ability and most graceful manner, and all who enjoyed the pleasure of her acquaintance were her admiring friends. Her sons and daughter for many years have made her life one of ease and plenty. She will be sadly missed by her many friends.
