HEART DISEASE IS FATAL TO L. E. SPARKS
Aged Resident Dies At Home Thursday Afternoon.

Lewis Edward Sparks, age 68, for many years a resident in the western part of
the county, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at his home, 811 west 6th street, from
heart disease and hardening of the arteries. He had been ill for the past three
weeks.

Mr. Sparks for many years lived on a farm and operated the Sparks telephone
exchange, now known as the Kirby exchange. He was a machinist and was in charge
of a threshing machine and crew. Twelve years ago he and his wife moved to this
city and have lived since on west 6th street. He was a member of the Baptist
church.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Alice Sparks; three sons, Roy, Herschel and Bryan
Sparks, all of this city; two daughters, Mrs. William Gifford and Mrs. Lydia
Thompson, of this city; two brothers, John and Mart Spark, of this county, 23
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday from the First Baptist
church and will be conducted by the Rev. S. L. Stealey and the Rev. William
Binkley. Music will be furnished by the Cross Roads church quartet.

Interment will be in Rosehill.

Active pallbearers are Fred Thrasher, Alva Eller, William Worley, Walter Parks,
Virgil Burch and Orville Jackson. The list of honorary pallbearers includes
Marion Burch, A. C. Turner, Homer Browning, Thomas Fielder, Omer May, Orrin
Jones and Frank Gifford.
